Newsletter Committee: Responsible for producing the quarterly issue of The Alternative newsletter.
· Focus on independent black radical politics, self-determination, and global events.
· Educate the Black community about alternatives outside of the (Democratic and Republican party)
· Push for Black radical politics globally and policy agendas that are meaningful and advance Black liberation.
Outreach Committee: The Outreach Committee serves as the front-facing arm of the Congress, responsible for cultivating deep, sustained relationships with Black communities, grassroots organizations, and aligned movements.
- Community Engagement: Organize and participate in local events, forums, and community spaces to build trust and solidarity. Actively listen to and uplift the voices of Black working-class and marginalized people.
- Coalition Building: Establish and maintain strategic alliances with other radical Black-led organizations, mutual aid networks, and liberation movements to build collective power.
- Communications & Messaging: Works with the Media Committee and the Newsletter Committee to develop materials (flyers, newsletters, social media content) that clearly communicate the Congress’ positions, campaigns, and calls to action in a politically grounded and culturally resonant voice.
NBRPC Convention Committee: Responsible for planning, organizing and facilitating the annual October convention of the Congress.
Fundraising Committee: Responsible for raising funds for the internal development of the Congress, such as capacity building, as well as candidates and campaigns.
· Targeting various outlets for raising funds including electronic/online fundraising .
Political Action Committee (PAC): Responsible for reviewing, vetting, and evaluating all applications for NBRPC endorsement.
· The Political Action Committee will be responsible for making the final decision.
Media Committee: The Media Committee is responsible for shaping and amplifying the political voice of the Congress across platforms.
- Narrative Development: Create and maintain clear, consistent messaging rooted in Black radical politics. The committee develops language and frameworks that expose systems of oppression—capitalism, white supremacy, colonialism—and elevates ideas for Black self-determination and collective freedom.
- Content Creation: Work with other committees to produce multimedia content including graphics, videos, articles and social media posts that reflect the NBRPC’s campaigns, political positions, and community work.
- Digital Strategy: Manage the NBRPC’s digital presence, including websites and social media accounts. Use these platforms to educate, agitate, and organize Black people about electoral politics and independent political action.
- Press & Public Relations: Write press releases, draft official statements, and coordinate interviews or media appearances. Build and maintain relationships with aligned journalists, media outlets, and independent Black media platforms.
- Campaign Visibility: Collaborate with other committees to ensure that political campaigns, events, and actions are publicly visible, strategically framed, and supported with powerful media tools.
Membership Committee: The Membership Committee is responsible for building, nurturing, and developing the individual and organizational members of the NBRPC.
- Recruitment & On-boarding: Develop and implement a structured process for recruiting new members—prioritizing working-class Black people and those rooted in community struggle. Facilitate orientation sessions that introduce new members to the Congress’ principles, history, structure, and political vision.
- Political Development: Coordinate regular internal political education sessions, study groups, and skill-building workshops to sharpen members' understanding of Black radical traditions, revolutionary organizing, and movement strategy.
- Assessment & Accountability: Maintain up-to-date records of membership activity, participation, and contribution. Work with leadership to assess engagement levels of members.
- Retention & Growth: Develop strategies to keep members active, aligned, and connected.
- Culture & Community: Organize internal gatherings—both political and social—that foster trust, solidarity, and a shared sense of revolutionary purpose.
