January 28, 2025 - The third (3rd) annual convention of the National Black Radical Political Congress was held virtually on October 26th – 27th (2024) with an online gathering of seventy-six radical and revolutionary participants from sixteen states to advance participation in the electoral arena for Black radical social change.
The theme of the 2024 convention “The Alternative: Building a Black Radical Political Movement,” focused on current issues pertinent to Black radical electoral politics. Nine key panels highlighted issues such as reparations, police brutality, jobs, education and housing, environmental justice, US imperialism and International affairs, and prison abolition.
NBRPC endorsed presidential candidate Dr. Cornel West and vice-presidential candidate Dr. Melina Abdullah presented their platform for the 2024 presidential election.
At the final plenary meeting, delegates voted to establish specific criteria and donation amounts for candidates that the NBRPC will endorse. This will allow radical Black activists nationwide to have access to a resource to run better financed and better coordinated campaigns to advance the struggles of poor and working class Black people.
Delegates also voted to support the Black is Back electoral school as well as establish an NBRPC electoral school that will educate and provide support to its members during the electoral process.
“We are incredibly excited to embark on this new journey with WBAI,” said Charles and Inez Barron. “Our show, Speaking Truth to Power, aims to amplify the voices of our community and shed light on a much-needed Black radical/revolutionary perspective on important political issues. We look forward to engaging with our listeners and making a meaningful impact through the airwaves.”
